Retirement Eligibility: ORP Eligible Department Summary The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) invites applications for a full‑time, permanent Lecturer position in Biology, beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach biology and health‑related bioscience courses and contribute to program development, student recruitment, and community outreach within the Department of Natural Sciences. Position Overview Expectations for full‑time faculty include excellent teaching and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four‑course load each semester, as well as participation in curriculum development, student recruiting and mentoring, program assessment, and committee leadership. Minimum Qualifications M.S. in Biology or a closely related field by start date. Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching. Experience teaching first‑year Biology and Biology for non‑science majors. Experience teaching core biology courses such as Cell Biology, Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology, Animal Physiology, Microbiology, Ecology, Evolution and related laboratory courses, as well as upper‑level courses based on the candidate’s expertise. Demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field by start date. Experience mentoring students and student organizations. Experience in curriculum development and interdisciplinary degree programs, particularly in biotechnology. Experience developing and implementing STEM‑related service learning and experiential learning. Academic experience working with all student populations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effective written, verbal, and team‑building communication skills. Job Duties Independent instruction of course content, support and scaffolding of student learning, commitment to professional development in pedagogy, and curriculum development. Service to department, college, university, and profession. Physical Requirements Communicating with others to exchange information. Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds. Moving oneself in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Environmental Hazards No adverse environmental conditions expected. Work Schedule As required by teaching duties, service, and research.
