Automation Electrician in Saint Charles

Job Overview The Automation Electrician will assemble and power‑up machines, equipment, and sub‑assemblies using Lean and 5S methodologies, following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. Responsibilities Assemble electrical sub‑assemblies and panels per drawing and/or work instructions with supervision. Bend conduit and solder components. Recognize wire and conduit types and use correct terminology to describe each. Understand both AC and DC type circuits. Read and understand electrical schematics and ladder diagrams. Wire machinery per instructions or engineered drawings. Use basic electrical test equipment and understand the readings. Perform final hook‑up of electrical connections. Assist other electricians when needed. Apply knowledge of electrical formulas and their applications. Troubleshoot and correct problems with equipment. Apply knowledge of PLC components and their functions. Effectively use a PC or laptop computer. Qualifications High School or GED required. 2 to 4 years of related experience and/or training required. Understanding of both AC and DC circuits required. Familiarity with the NEC (Electrical Code) required. Experience or education that demonstrates ability to perform the essential functions of the position may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Ability to use small hand‑power tools, including reading a tape measure with 1/32‑inch increments. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Soft Skills Knowledge of PLC software. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information effectively one‑on‑one and in small groups to customers, clients, and employees. Proficiency in English; bilingual a plus. Physical Demands The role requires standing, walking, carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling, climbing, walking up stairs, and crouching. Communication through speaking and hearing is required.
