General Maintenance Tech II

Performs highly skilled general building maintenance and repair work. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Essential Duties

• Provides estimates of time and materials needed for each assignment.
• Enters work order information and tracks projects in the Automated Software System and orders materials and equipment.
• Performs and/or monitors building operations and service activities including security, housekeeping, building and grounds maintenance; as required moves items related to these activities.
• Performs general building maintenance and repairs.
• Maintains grounds at district offices and shops and makes repairs as needed.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
• Assists with data entry for construction record-keeping.
• Coordinates and tracks the progress of projects and/or specialized programs and informs supervisor or other Department officials of status.
• Maintains materials inventory.
• Monitors equipment mileage and service records.
• Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders.
• Processes receipts and invoices for payment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: No education required.
• Experience: 2 YEARS in general building maintenance and repair or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle Mandatory: Safety Impact Certificate

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
• Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
• Climbing - ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps, etc
• Standing-prolonged periods of time
• Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading

Conditions of Employment:

This job has been identified as physically demanding and will require a pre-employment physical. Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions. This is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing.- Please note that the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulation 49 CFR Part 40, at 40.151(e) does not authorize "medical marijuana" under a state law to be a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test result for an employee in this position.

Required to work weekends and holidays.

Required to work hours other than 8 to 5.

Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.

Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.

Must be able to report for duty within 60 minutes of notification on a 24-hour basis to respond to emergency situations.
