Qualifications Valid Rhode Island Department of Education certification as a School Nurse Teacher Five years of successful Nurse teaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of School Nurse program requirements as evidenced by advanced degree, course work, training, and/or professional experience. Any exceptions to the above as may be acceptable to the Superintendent Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as a Teacher Leader. Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, industry and community partners, students and families. Experience and expertise in program development, data collection and analysis, program evaluation and reporting. Excellent oral and written communication skills and technology use.. Performance Responsibilities Assist schools in the development of nursing care plans based on evaluations and Physician’s orders, as needed. Coordinate the delivery and analysis of data as required for state reporting. Review Standing orders annually and have them signed by the School Physician. Coordinate with all other School Nurse Teachers in the district in programs related to medical services for pupils and staff in-service. Coordinate annual health screenings district wide to ensure compliance RI Department of Health Coordinate School Nurse Teacher meetings Coordinate medical services and evaluation pertaining to medical needs of special needs population as a member of the educational team, as needed Provide a refresher training for Bus Drivers and Monitors including First Aid, Epi-Pen and Glucagon administration. Provide staff with Epi-Pen, Glucagon Training, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Collaborate with the Health/PE Coordinator to provide annual training in CPR/AED for staff and faculty. Interpret public health laws governing control of communicable diseases and establish procedures governing the exclusion and readmission of pupils in connection with infectious disease or improper immunization. Serve on the Health and Wellness Committee. Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or Director of Pupil Personnel Services as they relate to Health Services. Terms of Employment Annual Appointment Schedule to be determined by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services. Will complete an estimated 40 hours per year for hours required beyond the contractual day. Compensation per BWEA CBA. EVALUATION: Annual, based on above job responsibilities.
