Responsibilities The staff attorneys are responsible for providing legal assistance necessary to prepare bills, amendments, resolutions, and other legislative documents for General Assembly members, legislative staff, state officers, officials, and others. Compensation Compensated annually at a starting salary of $76,000, with benefits including paid time off, pension plan participation, deferred compensation, health, vision, and dental insurance. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday; availability required for evenings, weekends, and holidays during certain times of the year. Qualifications Law degree and admission to (or eligibility for) the Illinois Bar. Excellent writing and editing skills. Strong cooperation and communication with the Bureau's staff and legislative clients. Must maintain strict confidentiality and fulfill the trust imposed by the General Assembly.
