IBM z/OS Mainframe Software Specialist
NTT DATA Services is seeking an IBM z/OS mainframe software specialist to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US). Job description includes providing deep technical expertise across the IBM z/OS mainframe ecosystem, supporting legacy MMIS assessment, reverse engineering, and modernization initiatives. This role focuses on analyzing and stabilizing COBOL-based, DB2/IMS-backed, batch-driven systems, and enabling their transition to a modern, modular MES architecture.
Day to day job duties include legacy system analysis, reverse engineering & documentation, mainframe development & operations, and modernization support. Basic qualifications include minimum 10+ years of experience in IBM z/OS mainframe environments, experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM/GSAM file systems, IMS DB/DC, and large-scale transaction processing systems. Preferred qualifications include experience with Medicaid/MMIS or healthcare claims systems, exposure to mainframe modernization tools and strategies, familiarity with API enablement of legacy systems, data migration to cloud platforms, and understanding of CMS SMC or regulatory environments.
Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this role is $77,120– $145,240. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance. This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short and long term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
