UNC Medical Center is hiring New Grad Nurses to join our Psychotic Disorders Unit (3 Neurosciences)!

Seeking nursing graduates to start Fall 2026

Position Offering:

• Shift: Rotating Day & Night with option for majority of preferred shifts when possible; including rotating weekend & holidays
• Hours: Full Time; 36 hrs/wk; three/12 hour shifts

In order to qualify for the UNC Medical Center New Graduate Residency program, candidates must currently be in their final semester of nursing school or recently graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and worked as a RN for less than 6 months. The New Graduate Residency is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. Additionally, the program provides mentored clinical relationships to support development as a professional nurse. It is required for the applicant to pass the NCLEX exam and be a licensed RN prior to the first day of employment.

3 Neurosciences is an 18-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. The Psychotic Disorders unit serves adults with acute and chronic mental illnesses. Services typically include a thorough psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychoeducation groups, case management services, and discharge planning.

This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO hours, which are accrued based on the number of worked hours. This position requires the ability to attend the required weeklong hospital orientation offered every two weeks.

Orientation Schedule: Monday and Tuesday - In person from 8am to 5pm; Wednesday - 8am to 10am Virtual and in person from 1pm to 5 pm; and Thursday and Friday - Virtual.

Summary: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
