Job Description:


- Shift: 12H Days (7a-730p)
- Weekend Requirement: Based on unit needs/demands
- Unit: Mixed ICU (Medical and CV) - 4th Floor
- Number of Beds: 24
- Ratios:
- 1:1, 1:2 for ICU level acuity
- 1:3-4 for PCU level acuity
- Required Certifications:
- WA or Compact License
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- CRRN, PCCN (preferred but not required)
- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
- Sepsis
- COPD
- Covid
- Pneumonia
- Withdrawal
- Strokes post TNK administration
- CRRT, IABP, Impella, PA catheters
- Arctic sun for post-cardiac arrest patients
- Recovery of immediate open-heart patients
- Overflow from cath lab
- Post-surgical needing longer recovery


- Experience or 'Must Have' Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in ICU
- Specialty skills preferred such as management of Swans, Prismaflex CRRT, IABP, immediate open-heart recovery
- Titration of Drips: Yes
- Common Titrated &/or Set Rate Drips:
- All ICU drips
- Sedation
- Vasoactive medications
- Paralytics

- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Yes, charge and resource nurse on every shift (Charge nurse free, resource may take a patient load)
- Nurse Aids on This Unit/Ratios:
- CNA's 1:12 ratio
- May be pulled for 1:1 sitters
- Medical Staff Availability:
- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house 24/7
- Dedicated pharmacist until 11 PM, then house pharmacy after that
- RT in ICU: 24/7 dedicated to ICU
- RT Equipment Available:
- All: CPAP, BiPAP, Vents
- Tele and Monitoring:
- Dedicated monitor techs and RNs read strips
- ICU nurses required to set up, manage, and interpret monitors

- Shifts & Scheduling:
- 07-1930, 1900-0730
- 6-week schedules
- Self-scheduling, balanced and reviewed by the manager
- High need for weekends; may be working many Sundays
- Floating Requirements:
- Yes, floating between 4th, 5th, or 6th floors (critical care) or to the ER for patient holds
- Dress Code:
- Any professional color scrubs
- Orientation:
- Can test out of Epic if experienced within the last year
- EPIC training modules, an 8-hour onboarding, and education day, tours, followed by 1 shift with a preceptor
