Job Description for Offshore Java Spring Boot Engineer We are seeking an experienced Java Software Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable applications that power critical business capabilities across one of the largest financial services organizations in the industry. You will work closely with engineers, product owners, architects, and business partners across global teams to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.This opportunity goes beyond writing code. You will play an active role in backlog refinement, solution design, technical discussions, estimation, and sprint planning, helping shape solutions from concept through production. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience building enterprise-grade Java applications and microservices, a passion for solving complex technical problems, and a commitment to engineering excellence.Success in this role requires strong ownership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed onshore/offshore team. You should be comfortable working independently, driving technical decisions, mentoring other engineers, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software that meets business and customer needs. This role is well suited for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced Agile environment and continuously seeks opportunities to improve quality, reliability, security, and development practices

Essential Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and support enterprise-grade microservices using Java and Spring Boot. Build secure, resilient, and maintainable REST APIs, backend services, and integrations for business-critical capabilities. Contribute to refinement, solution design, estimation, sprint planning, code reviews, and technical decision-making. Develop event-driven solutions and asynchronous integrations using Kafka or comparable messaging technologies. Integrate services with relational databases and data-access frameworks, including Spring Data JPA and SQL. Create meaningful unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito; maintain strong automated test coverage. Troubleshoot complex production and non-production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes. Contribute to CI/CD automation, quality gates, security scans, deployment readiness, observability, and operational support. Produce clear technical documentation, API specifications, design artifacts, runbooks, and support materials. Share knowledge, mentor engineers, and promote clean code, design patterns, and modern engineering practices. 

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise Java applications.Strong proficiency with modern Java, preferably Java 17 or Java 21.Extensive experience designing and developing microservices using Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.Hands-on experience with Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring REST, and related Spring components.Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs, backend services, distributed applications, and system integrations.Experience developing event-driven solutions using Kafka or a comparable messaging platform.Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, clean coding practices, and maintainable application architecture.Experience with relational databases, SQL, data modeling, data-access frameworks, and performance optimization.Experience developing automated unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or comparable testing frameworks.Proficiency with Git, Maven or Gradle, Swagger/OpenAPI, build automation, and CI/CD pipelines.Working knowledge of secure software development practices, automated code-quality controls, and security-scanning tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, or WebInspect.Experience troubleshooting complex application and production issues, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing sustainable solutions.Experience working throughout the software development lifecycle within an Agile/Scrum delivery environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across offshore and onshore teams.Demonstrated ownership, problem-solving ability, independent execution, and consistent follow-through on commitments.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud-native application development, containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, and public or private cloud platforms.Experience with PCF or comparable application hosting platforms.Experience with RabbitMQ or additional messaging and asynchronous processing technologies.Knowledge of non-relational databases, distributed caching technologies, and modern data-integration patterns.Proficiency with JSON, YAML, XML, PL/SQL, Unix/Linux environments, and operational scripting.Experience with application monitoring, logging, observability, performance analysis, and production support.Exposure to frontend technologies such as Angular, React, TypeScript, or JavaScript.Experience documenting technical designs, APIs, operational procedures, and offshore-to-onshore support handoffs.

Additional Valuable Experience Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and promoting engineering best practices.Experience contributing to technical designs and making decisions involving scalability, security, performance, resilience, and maintainability.Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering-productivity platforms.Experience working with globally distributed teams and collaborating across multiple time zones.
