Position Overview:
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and autism to live independently and participate in their communities.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, and light housekeeping.
• Skill Building: Encourage personal growth, decision-making, and independence based on individualized support plans.
• Documentation: Track daily progress, log activities, and handle medication administration as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Activity Support: Implement physical, vocational, social, and self-help activities for individuals both individually and in groups.
• Equipment Care: Maintain activity materials and equipment in proper working order and submit repair requests when needed.
• Staff Resource: Provide information, guidance, and techniques to support aides and other staff working with individuals.
• Client Transport: Escort individuals on and off campus for activities and appointments.
• Safety Practices: Promote good health and safe conditions, report hazards, and participate in housekeeping activities at the work site.
• Documentation: Maintain appropriate documentation regarding participation and activities.
• Program Support: Assist with creating and maintaining a positive, structured environment that promotes participation and skill development.

Schedule:

• Includes a 30-minute lunch.
• Work hours and schedule may change based on operational needs.
• This is a 24-hour care facility, and shifts and hours may vary.
• A one-call system will alert staff when additional shifts are needed.
• Staff will have the opportunity to call in and accept available shifts.
• Overtime may be required as needed.
• Travel may be required as needed.
• Free parking is available.
• This position is fully onsite and does not offer telework.

Work Environment:
This role takes place in a 24-hour care facility and involves direct interaction with individuals who require assistance with daily activities. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively, following safety procedures, assisting with activities, and adapting to changing operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Information:

• The position is permanent and full-time.
• The starting pay rate is $25.00 per hour.
• Pay is issued bi-weekly.
• The schedule may vary based on facility and operational needs.
• Candidates should be prepared to work onsite with no telework option.
• Overtime and travel may be required as needed.
