LICENSING SPECIALIST - CHILD CARE Requisition No: 877640 Agency: Children and Families Location: Bradenton, FL (multiple ZIP codes) Responsibilities Specialize in counseling, casework, and administrative activities in Child Care Regulation, inspecting and licensing Family Day Care Homes, Large Family Child Care Homes, and Child Care Facilities within established time frames. Conduct inspections of childcare homes and facilities to monitor compliance with Florida Statutes and Child Care Regulation standards, maintaining a tracking system to ensure inspection timeframes are met and the correct number of inspections are completed annually. Process initial and renewal applications, including background screening clearances and required training, determine eligibility and make recommendations for licensure to supervisor or Licensing Manager. Investigate complaints on licensed providers and illegal childcare operations, prepare reports, and initiate administrative action as required by statute and/or Child Care Regulation Standards. Maintain and update the provider database (CARES), archive inspections timely, and monitor accuracy of data. Develop professional knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and community resources that form the framework for the childcare regulation program. Use program hardware, software, system applications, and web pages effectively. Manage progressive discipline and administrative action processes, including timely complaint notifications to providers and closing out each action accurately. Respond to telephone, e‑mail, and walk‑in inquiries from the public, parents, other agencies, and providers, providing accurate information on childcare programs, and consult with stakeholders. Respond positively and timely to special assignments and perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications & Skills Minimum 2 years experience in the Child Care Industry (e.g., Classroom Teacher, Director, Paraprofessional). High School Diploma required. Proficiency in computer use: Excel, Microsoft Office, Notepad, Outlook, etc. Analytical and problem‑solving skills for on‑site complaint inspections. Ability to write comprehensive and objective reports. Public speaking required (for hearings or presentations). Strong time‑management, organizational, confidentiality, multitasking, and adaptability skills. Requirements Driver’s License: Required.
