E-discovery and Litigation Support Manager

Job Summary The E‑discovery and Litigation Support (EDLS) Manager works in the BDO USA Office of the General Counsel (OGC) on legal matters assigned to EDLS. The manager is responsible for managing electronic discovery and data and forensic projects, primarily relating to litigation or similar matters, and for performing other litigation support matters as directed by OGC attorneys. Job Duties Assist OGC attorneys with executing eDiscovery strategy, including organization, tracking, and execution of electronic data preservation, collection, review and production for civil, regulatory, government and administrative matters. Provide expertise and consultative advice regarding preservation, collection, review and production. Assist attorneys and EDLS with technology and e‑discovery support for the firm’s response to subpoenas, litigation and investigations. Track incoming matters and requests directed to EDLS for prioritization, progress and completion to meet business needs. Maintain a universe of preserved matters to ensure compliance with legal obligations and assist IT and Discovery Counsel with data source assessment. Review legal documentation drafted by the EDLS team at the direction of OGC attorneys. Directly interface with BDO’s IT group, third‑party vendors and outside counsel on electronic discovery and forensic projects. Lead efforts for custodian interviews, collections, review, and special projects as directed. Draft and maintain current EDLS internal documentation of policies, processes, and procedures. Assist attorneys with drafting legal documentation related to electronic discovery. Perform administrative duties related to the ongoing operation of the Office of General Counsel. Collaborate with OGC attorneys, paralegals, IT, and security teams to define, implement and maintain knowledge management systems. Collaborate with IT and vendors on technology initiatives supporting OGC operations. Work on special projects as required by Discovery Counsel or other OGC attorneys. Supervisory Responsibilities Ensure EDLS team members document preservation and collection processes accurately and timely. Manage assignment and overall workload of team members to encourage skill development and efficient project completion. Manage EDLS workflow to meet expectations while limiting and tracking overtime assignments. Ensure team members are trained on relevant software, policies and procedures and provide additional training as needed. Act as a mentor, providing leadership, guidance, growth opportunities and feedback. Education Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Computer Science or Paralegal Studies preferred. Experience Ten (10) or more years in an electronic discovery and/or forensic litigation setting as a litigation support specialist in a law firm, in‑house legal department or external service provider. Project or process management experience preferred. License/Certifications Advanced user qualifications or certifications from litigation support software and service providers preferred. Paralegal certification preferred. Software Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Compliance Center and other litigation support software and services required. Proficient in the use of Relativity required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required. Proficient in information and document database management preferred. Experience with Lexis and Westlaw research platforms preferred. Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Solid understanding of electronic discovery and forensic handling from preservation through production. Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to document processes. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under high pressure and meet deadlines without supervision. Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, handling competing demands and deadlines. Build consensus among people and handle high volume communications timely. Technically savvy, flexible, versatile and self‑motivated. Strong team building, problem‑solving, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Evaluate individual team member contribution and path toward increased contribution. Capable of working independently or within a team environment. Salary National Range: $150,000 - $175,000 Maryland Range: $150,000 - $175,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $150,000 - $175,000 Benefits Benefits may be subject to eligibility requirements.
