About the Role
The Company is in search of a Head of North America Privacy, a pivotal role for an experienced privacy attorney to lead the privacy advisory function in the region. The successful candidate will be the primary legal authority on privacy and data protection, working closely with various internal teams to ensure compliance with North American privacy laws and regulations. This includes providing legal advice on a wide range of matters, from privacy and security incidents to the strategic direction of the privacy advisory function. The role also involves managing a high-performing team, negotiating complex privacy and data protection agreements, and staying abreast of emerging privacy and cyber trends to provide proactive guidance. Applicants must be licensed attorneys with a minimum of 7 years' experience in privacy, preferably with a background in a highly regulated, B2B industry. The role requires a strong understanding of privacy and cyber laws, including CCPA, GLBA, PIPEDA, and NYDFS, as well as a proven track record in leading data breach responses and high-stakes contract negotiations. The ideal candidate will be business-focused, strategic, and adept at balancing risk analysis with business objectives. Experience in the financial or insurance industry is a plus, and the candidate should be adept at managing a team, coaching for skill development, and driving continuous improvement. In-house experience is essential, and a continuous improvement mindset is highly valued.
