Specimen Processor I
Abbott Company, Ltd.
Abbott seeks a Specimen Processor I for its Phoenix diagnostics facility to manage specimen receipt, preparation, and storage with accuracy and excellent customer service. This technical role involves laboratory data entry, specimen triage, quality assurance, and coordination with collection sites and ordering physicians.
Responsibilities
- Accession specimens and enter data into Laboratory Information System
- Review requisitions for completeness and verify proper specimen handling and integrity
- Triage specimens to appropriate departments and coordinate shipping
- Maintain rejection and problem logs; contact external labs for patient samples as needed
- Interact with collection sites, physician offices, and payors to resolve issues and verify coverage
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals
- Authorization to work in United States without sponsorship
- Capability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation
- Associates degree in biological science preferred
- Prior experience handling medical specimens preferred
