We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a team in Etna, Ohio in a contract capacity with permanent potential. This position will support core accounting operations by managing close activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with reporting and compliance needs. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, sound judgment when reviewing financial data, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by completing assigned accounting tasks within established timelines.
• Prepare and record a range of journal entries, including accruals, amortization, prepaids, and other adjustments needed for accurate reporting.
• Monitor general ledger activity to confirm transactions are recorded correctly and investigate discrepancies, unusual balances, or unexpected fluctuations.
• Complete monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, bank activity, intercompany transactions, and other key accounts, resolving outstanding items promptly.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting by tracking acquisitions, transfers, retirements, and depreciation, while reconciling subledger activity to the general ledger.
• Support lease accounting by maintaining schedules, recording right-of-use assets and liabilities, and reflecting related amortization and interest in accordance with applicable guidance.
• Prepare financial schedules and reporting support for management, external auditors, and tax partners as requested.
• Work with FP& A, Treasury, facilities, and operational stakeholders to gather information, respond to ad hoc requests, and improve accounting processes and internal controls.• Experience in staff accounting with hands-on responsibility for journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Knowledge of month-end close procedures and the ability to work accurately under reporting deadlines.
• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and lease accounting concepts, including treatment of related balances and schedules.
• Exposure to corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support within an accounting environment.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and confidence using accounting systems to research transactions and prepare entries.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances, trace issues to root cause, and maintain supporting documentation.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams on reporting and operational accounting needs.
