Chief of Hospital Medicine opening in Lewiston, MELocated in Lewiston, ME - Portland 35 miles, Boston 140 milesFull-timeLeadership Role Overview: Chief of Hospital Medicine providing system-wide leadership Oversee hospitalist services across multiple hospital sites Blend of clinical practice and administrative leadership Focus on quality, patient experience, and operational excellence--- Leadership & Clinical Responsibilities: Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Hospital Medicine programs Maintain an active clinical role in inpatient care Lead hospitalist and APP recruitment, retention, and development Oversee staffing models and workforce planning Drive improvements in patient flow, length of stay, and care transitions Collaborate with executive leadership, nursing, and medical staff Participate in peer review, physician engagement, and wellness initiativesQuality & Operations: Lead quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs Utilize data and performance metrics to improve outcomes Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Support budget planning, productivity goals, and resource utilization Reduce reliance on locum/temporary staffing through strategic planningCollaboration & System Integration: Work closely with emergency medicine, specialty services, and care management Support alignment across multiple hospital sites, including rural settings Participate in medical staff leadership committees and system initiatives--- Compensation & Benefits: Competitive compensation package with leadership stipend Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage Retirement plan with employer contribution CME allowance and paid time off Malpractice provided--- Requirements: MD or DO Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Eligible for Maine medical license Proven leadership experience in Hospital Medicine or similar role Strong communication, collaboration, and team-building skillsPreferred: Experience leading multi-site or system-based programs Background in rural or community hospital settings Demonstrated success in quality improvement and operational leadership--- About the Area:Lewiston offers a low cost of living, strong sense of community, and access to outdoor recreation including lakes, mountains, and hiking.
