Hours and Schedule Shift Start Time: 7:30 AM; Shift End Time: 4:00 PM. AWS Hours Requirement: 8/40 – 8‐hour shift. Additional Shift Information: No weekend work. On‑Call Required: No. Pay Range Hourly Pay Range (Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum): $53,570 – $69,120 – $77,410. The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices. What You Will Do Assist patients, staff and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of operational efficiency and customer service while providing quality care to the designated patient population. Serve as a technical nursing expert for assigned areas and, under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner, provide higher‑level care specializing in the assessment and management of chronic wounds, ostomies, and continence issues. Required Qualifications 3 years RN experience in a related clinical area. 1 year wound care experience. California Registered Nurse (RN) – CA Board of Registered Nursing REQUIRED AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association REQUIRED Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) – The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) REQUIRED Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) – The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) REQUIRED Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Department Specific Responsibilities Wound and Skin Care Management of chronic, surgical, diabetic, venous, arterial and traumatic wounds. Simple to complex wound dressing management. Compression wrap and compression stocking application. Cast management. Routine patient assessment regarding condition changes; signs and symptoms of infection; worsening wound; new wound; skin changes; abnormal vital signs; swelling issues; exudate changes; increased pain; etc., with timely report to provider. Comprehensive assessment and direction of the plan of care: history and physical examination, wound assessment, comorbidity assessment, dietary assessment, risk and prevention assessment. Implementation of appropriate treatment modalities: compression therapy, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), moisture‑balanced dressings, pressure‑reduction methods, management of moisture‑associated skin damage (MASD), total contact casting, palliative care, etc. Referral to other specialties: vascular surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics, lymphedema clinic, physical therapy, etc. Debridement techniques: sharp, enzymatic, and chemical. Patient and family education on wound care management, lifestyle changes, and holistic patient care. Ostomy Care Comprehensive assessment and direction of the plan of care: history and physical examination, pre‑operative site marking, post‑operative stoma and peristomal skin assessment with routine follow‑up, comorbidity assessment, dietary assessment, risk and prevention assessment, lifestyle management, sexual counseling. Routine care to promote optimal outcomes for the ostomy patient, including assessment of the stoma, peristomal skin, stoma output, measurement and fitting/sizing of the pouching system. Individualized pre‑operative and post‑operative education regarding basic ostomy care. Implementation of appropriate treatment modalities: bowel/bladder regimes/diaries, self‑catheterization, constipation/diarrhea management. Family, caregiver, and team member involvement. Organizational Efficiency and Effectiveness Complete daily responsibilities and organizational tasks. Manage telephone messages promptly and efficiently. Monitor patient flows and physician schedules to meet quality and service standards. Follow policy and procedure for OCM entry. Respond to changing circumstances and prioritize patient needs. Respond to urgent and emergent situations calmly and proficiently. Maintain appropriate supply levels and complete inventories per guidelines. Participate in Quality Improvement programs. Leadership Collaborate with the Wound Clinic Nurse Practitioner to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations, meet regulatory and organization standards, and provide quality patient care. Provide leadership to staff for multidisciplinary communication, collaboration, and a patient/customer‑oriented environment. Participate in orientation of new staff and identify opportunities for staff development. Medication Management Maintain current knowledge of applicable medications and demonstrate safe and accurate administration techniques with no medication errors. Nursing Competencies Successfully complete Nursing Competencies with a score of 90% or greater in each section. Scores are categorized as Great, Good, or Needs Improvement based on completion and retesting outcomes. Quality Initiatives Complete Quality Assurance assignments and ensure overall department compliance. Quality Assurance scores are categorized as Great, Good, or Needs Improvement. Support and complete additional quality initiatives such as P4P, BMI, Date Mart, etc. Technical Skills Demonstrate knowledge of equipment and information system applications, maintain keyboard proficiency, and document patient care events thoroughly.
