Senior Accountant

Overview Our client, a well-established and growing company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team and take ownership of key accounting functions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial data and reporting, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with exposure to all aspects of the accounting cycle. About the Role: As a Senior Accountant, you will report to the Controller and work closely with operations and leadership to drive accurate financial reporting, ensure compliance with GAAP, and support business decisions through detailed analysis. You’ll be expected to take initiative, improve processes, and provide mentorship to junior team members. Key Responsibilities Own the month-end and year-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, amortizations, and reconciliations Prepare and analyze internal financial statements and management reports on a monthly basis Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accurate classification of transactions Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities; analyze variances and provide insights to leadership Support external audit and tax processes, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation Maintain compliance with internal controls and GAAP standards Collaborate cross-functionally with AP, AR, and operational teams to streamline accounting processes Identify and implement improvements in processes and systems to increase accuracy and efficiency Serve as a resource and mentor to junior accountants and accounting assistants Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track preferred) 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a corporate, multi-entity, or mid-size business environment Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls Proficiency with NetSuite Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc.) Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of processes Ascendo is a certified minority owned staffing firm, and we welcome and celebrate diversity.
