Deli Associate

Deli Clerk / Deli Associate McKinnon\'s Market is looking for a dependable, friendly, and hardworking team member to join our Deli Department. This position is responsible for assisting customers, preparing and packaging deli items, stocking and maintaining deli cases, and helping keep the department clean, fresh, and well organized. The right candidate will enjoy working with people, take pride in quality food, and be willing to learn. Previous deli, kitchen, retail, or customer service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service with a friendly and helpful attitude Assist customers at the deli counter, including slicing, weighing, packaging, and pricing products Prepare, package, stock, rotate, and merchandise deli items Learn what makes McKinnon\'s products different and be able to explain them to customers Keep deli cases full, fresh, clean, and attractive Maintain back stock in good order Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and product handling procedures Safely use knives, slicers, and other deli equipment Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area for both employees and customers Attend department and store meetings as needed Follow all company policies and regulatory requirements, including food safety, HACCP, OSHA, Department of Labor, Weights and Measures, and local sanitation laws Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Previous deli, kitchen, culinary, retail, or customer service experience preferred Basic knowledge of deli products helpful Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate clearly with customers and team members Ability to safely handle knives, slicers, box cutters, and other equipment Ability to work well as part of a team Reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to work a flexible schedule based on store needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Standing and walking for extended periods, up to 8–10 hours Bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and climbing as needed Ability to perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift Ability to lift heavy items without assistance when required Work in varying temperatures, including coolers and refrigerated areas Use of slicers, knives, box cutters, and other deli equipment Mandatory use of required personal protective equipment McKinnon\'s Market is a local, family-owned market known for quality products, great value, and friendly service.
