Pay Rate: $23.00 - $26.00/hr on W2
Schedule Time: Standard Shift; Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)

Position Summary:

• The Laboratory Technician I Contractor in the Materials & Characterization R&D group will be responsible for conducting testing /experiments; writing technical reports; supporting test request work flow and operation of equipment in the materials characterization labs.
• They will ensure compliance with Company quality policies, procedures and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles; ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and Company safety regulations, policies and procedures. 

Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Lab Manager, the incumbent performs bench-level engineering tests and/or research experiments designed to test the feasibility of concepts or technologies required for development or revision of new products.
• Lab Organization: Follow and support the workflow process for the materials R&D labs including instrument operation and maintenance.  Follows GLP.
• Process Effectiveness :  Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely stakeholder engagement and completion of assignments.
• Continuous Learning: Actively seek training to improve skills.  Ensure technical lessons are reviewed, learned and disseminated. 
• Accountability:  Demonstrate strong and clear accountability for the successful and timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Communication :  Hold and encourage frequent formal and informal communication within the team.

Must Have Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Science field (e.g., Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or related discipline).
• Experience: 0 to 5 years of relevant laboratory or technical experience (open to entry-level science/engineering graduates).
• Polymer Testing: Prior experience or coursework involving polymer characterization, testing instruments, and material evaluation.
• Lab Safety & GLP: Formally trained in laboratory safety procedures, safety protocols, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and cross-functional teamwork.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Solid understanding of statistical analysis techniques and data modeling principles.
• Analytical Instrumentation: Hands-on experience operating equipment such as Instron mechanical testers, TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis), DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry), FTIR, Rheometers, or Profilometers.
• Statistical Tools & Software: Basic understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling principles, and statistical software like Minitab.
• Office & Product Tools: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiar with standard product development processes.
