This position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to provide exceptional patient care during the critical recovery phase following anesthesia. Key Responsibilities: Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature, along with the patient's level of consciousness during the recovery process. Airway Management: Ensure a patent airway and adequate respiratory function, intervening when necessary to address any obstruction or respiratory distress. Symptom and Pain Management: Administer medications such as painkillers and anti-nausea drugs to effectively manage post-operative symptoms and enhance patient comfort. Assessment and Intervention: Conduct assessments of surgical sites for bleeding or complications, check dressings, and recognize adverse reactions to anesthesia or surgery while initiating appropriate emergency interventions. Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding the patient's condition and care plan. Requirements: Minimum of 2 years experience in PACU. BLS certification (American Heart Association) required. Active Michigan state nursing license at the time of application.
