Machine Operator I - 2nd Shift Direct Labor - Full-Time Manchester, New Hampshire, Manchester, NH, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 1749 Salary Range: $23.50 To $23.50 Hourly Position Summary Machine Operators at Proterial set up, operate, and monitor machinery that includes, but is not limited to: shaping thermoplastics, braiding cables, and assembling conductor groups into final products, ensuring adherence to precise specifications. The job involves exposure to fumes, moving parts, vibration, and loud noise, emphasizing the importance of these operators in maintaining production quality and efficiency. Machine Operator I’s will be responsible for one of the functions listed below. Take Up/Utility: Part of an operation to support the feeding of materials, moving reels, and general work on a production line. Respool: Runs wire and cable through equipment to ready and/or pack for shipment or to provide as WIP for future operations. Cabler: Runs a step in the operation of wire and cable. Equipment includes twisting, and cabling. General equipment at basic skill level. Essential Functions for All Machine Operators Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Observe all safety procedures and use equipment and materials properly. Setup, shutdown, operate and adjust manufacturing equipment to produce various wire and cable components or subcomponents. Must be able to access and read documentation including specifications and run and/or adjust equipment and/or test equipment to achieve specifications. Meet production standards by performing quality checks, in accordance with ISO procedures and following process and manufacturing specification sheets. Troubleshoot manufacturing process, meeting production schedules and customer deadlines. Maintain a clean workspace, and equipment as specified. Document production paperwork neatly and legibly, both written and electronically. Communicate and work closely with fellow operators and supervisors to coordinate tasks, discuss production problems, and exchange information to produce quality products. Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors. Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision. Train and mentor new employees on operation and function of equipment. Perform all other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Machine Operator I At least one year or equivalent manufacturing experience and skills with machinery and equipment. Must demonstrate minimum skill requirements from the training matrix of level I machine(s). Understanding of and compliance with safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Minimum Requirements for All Machine Operators: High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent reading comprehension skills to understand written manufacturing specifications, process sheets, instructions, and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills to exchange information with co-workers and supervisors. Computer skills: Basic level required to enter data into a computerized system and navigate manufacturing software. Mathematical skills and average mechanical aptitude for accurate measurements and calculations. Strong attention to detail is required in machine operation to minimize scrap. Ability to work independently with minimal direction, demonstrating initiative and self-direction. Hands‑on experience and knowledge using micrometers, calipers, venires, and other measuring devices for precise measurements. Ability to read and interpret gauges, dials, and equipment controls to ensure machinery is operating within specified parameters. Ability to lift, carry, and relocate approximately up to 50 lbs. of objects, materials, and/or product to support production needs. Visual acuity and the ability to distinguish colors and pass a colorblind test to identify coded cables, products, and material, ensuring quality control and safety.
