Resident Companion Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3pm Overview The W Group is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Resident Companion. As a Resident Companion, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to our residents during their daily activities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and comfortable transportation of residents. Responsibilities Safely and gently escort residents to and from various locations within the assisted living facility, such as dining areas, activity rooms, therapy sessions, and medical appointments. Assist residents with mobility devices, such as walkers or wheelchairs, as needed. Provide a friendly and empathetic presence, offering emotional support and companionship to residents during their journeys. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with residents, their families, and staff members. Communicate effectively with nursing and caregiving staff to ensure the timely and efficient movement of residents. Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent any accidents or injuries during transportation. Report any concerns or changes in a resident’s condition to the appropriate staff members. Maintain confidentiality and respect residents’ privacy at all times. Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance knowledge and skills related to patient care and safety. Qualifications Previous experience working in a healthcare or senior care setting is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate and patient-oriented mindset. Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including pushing wheelchairs and assisting residents with mobility. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is an asset. Working Conditions The position of Resident Companion requires standing, walking, and pushing residents for extended periods. The role may involve exposure to various healthcare settings and environments within the assisted living facility. Resident Companion may need to lift or assist in lifting residents when necessary. The job may require working during evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the facility’s needs.
