Job Description

The incumbent serves as the immediate supervisor for the Advanced Medical Support Assistants (AMSAs) in the Behavioral Health clinics. Oversees all AMSA duties that directly support the Service to include: advanced scheduling efforts that facilitate performance measure success, consult referrals, and the overall establishment and maintenance of the flow of patient care throughout all teams within the Service, to include the PTSD Clinical Team, Addictions Treatment Program, Behavior Health Recovery Team, Behavioral Medicine and Neuropsychological Services, and both telemed and therapy services at each CBOC. The duties include, but are not limited to:

• Interprets applicable regulations and directives that relate to enrollment, eligibility and entitlements of veterans for benefits through the Veterans Health Administration.
• Manages appointment wait times and takes proactive steps to reduce wait times that are longer than established goals.
• Provides technical support and assistance to clinic staff.
• Documents, tracks and monitors workload and compliance with performance measures.
• Works closely with Service Line management, physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to establish an efficient, cooperative team effort in the provision of effective outpatient health care.
• Coordinates, manages, and monitors all clerical clinic activity including establishing criteria for clinic matrixes, evaluation AMSA workload, and assuring compliance with performance measures, actions required, clinic access, and special scheduling mandates. Champions and role models exemplary customer service to all.
• Conducts annual performance reviews of staff members. Initiates and oversees all disciplinary actions for AMSAs.

8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday

Pay

Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off

37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave

After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy

After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
