Diesel Technician

Western Truck Exchange is looking for an experienced Diesel Technician to join our growing team. We’re building a shop where technicians are supported, respected, and rewarded for skill—especially those who want to grow into (or deepen) a specialty. In this role, you’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain medium-duty trucks with a focus on safety, quality, and clear communication. Core responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance inspections, oil changes, chassis lubrication, and identify worn/damaged parts Repair/diagnose major systems with minimal supervision (based on skill level), including clutches, electrical systems, hydraulic/air brake systems, HVAC, instruments/gauges, and PM services Diagnose/repair major components including gasoline and diesel engines, drivetrain/powertrain (differentials, transmissions, driveshafts, PTOs, wheel ends), engine bolt-on components (turbochargers, fan clutches, injectors/fuel system components), and electronics (ECM/ECU/sensors) Road test vehicles as needed to confirm concerns and verify repair quality Required Qualifications 5+ years of practical experience in mechanical inspections and repairs High school diploma or equivalent Proficiency with shop tools/hand tools; ability to supply a basic set of hand tools (as applicable by role/level) Valid driver’s license; must have or be able to obtain a CDL Comfortable working in non–climate controlled conditions Reliable attendance and punctualityBasic computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation Willingness to travel as needed (customer yards and training sites) Strongly Preferred Experience with diagnostic tools Experience with CAT and Cummins engine diagnostics/repairs (certified repair environment a plus) Experience with Allison transmission maintenance and rebuild-related services Experience working on International and Mitsubishi Fuso medium-duty platforms Vocational/technical certifications We are an equal opportunity employer and prohibit discrimination/harassment in accordance with applicable laws. #J-18808-Ljbffr Usedtrucks
