Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join a growing public accounting firm. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in GAAP and general ledger accounting who has experience working within a public accounting or accounting-firm environment.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing financial statements, managing journal entries and reconciliations, and working across the full general ledger. Audit and assurance experience is highly valued, along with the ability to communicate professionally with clients and take ownership of assigned engagements and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle general ledger accounting and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare and review financial statements, including P&L statements and balance sheets.
• Prepare and analyze trial balances, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with audit and assurance engagements, including gathering documentation, analyzing financial information, and supporting engagement deliverables.
• Maintain clear ownership of assigned accounting and client responsibilities from beginning to completion.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting, financial reporting, and engagement-related matters.
• Identify discrepancies or issues within financial records and work toward appropriate resolution.
• Manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support other accounting and assurance initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience working in public accounting or an accounting-firm environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Hands-on experience with financial statement preparation, P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Demonstrated ownership of accounting responsibilities reflected on your resume.
• Proven experience working full-time onsite in a professional environment; remote-only experience does not meet the requirements for this position.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients.
• Stable work history and a demonstrated ability to manage responsibilities independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA license or active CPA candidate.
• Previous audit and/or assurance experience.
• Experience working directly with clients and participating in client calls.
• Ability to lead client calls independently or demonstrate the potential to develop into a client-facing leadership role.
