Robert Half Management Resources is currently looking for an experienced Accounting Manager or small-business Controller to join a growing organization in Columbus, Ohio in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This fully onsite position is ideal for an experienced professional who enjoys leading a small team, managing core accounting operations, and supporting the financial health of the business. Primary responsibilities of the role include oversight and execution of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, A/P, A/R, and other ad hoc financial responsibilities. Ideal resource would be comfortable in a small business setting, willing to pitch in with ad hoc tasks as required. Role is fully onsite in Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities:

• Direct daily accounting operations and provide leadership to a four-person team spanning general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing.

• Manage the month-end close cycle by reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Oversee job costing activities and monitor cost accounting processes to support operational decision-making and project profitability analysis.

• Perform and review bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and account analysis to maintain accurate financial records.

• Support audit readiness by organizing financial documentation and assisting with requests tied to financial statement reviews or audits.

• Handle administrative accounting-related tasks, including coordination of selected benefits and insurance processes connected to employee programs.

• Work closely with business leadership to provide financial insight, maintain reporting accuracy, and support day-to-day accounting needs.

• Use accounting systems effectively, including platforms comparable to QuickBooks Desktop, and help maintain efficient financial workflows in a fully onsite environment.

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior responsibility for full-cycle accounting and month-end close activities.
• Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing accounting staff or coordinating the work of a small finance team.
• Strong background in general ledger management, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Proven experience with job costing and cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or project-based business environment.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software; experience with QuickBooks Desktop is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work onsite five days per week in Columbus, Ohio.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage both accounting and administrative responsibilities effectively.
