The Outside Plant Engineer supports mission-critical DoD telecommunications infrastructure across the Pentagon, Mark Center, and the National Capital Region. This role focuses on planning, maintaining, documenting, and repairing Outside Plant pathways and cabling systems to ensure reliable, standards-compliant operations. The position requires full-time onsite support and offers high visibility within a secure, fast-paced environment.MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACTMaintain and repair Outside Plant cable infrastructure, including MH/HH, conduit, copper, coax, and fiber systemsConduct site surveys, produce weekly reports, and develop maintenance plansEnsure compliance with JSP, TIA/EIA 568A/B, ANSI/TIA-758, and industry best practicesPerform 24/7/365 break/fix support for Outside Plant systems within JSP purviewPlan Outside Plant pathways for Federal and Local Government agenciesSupport configuration management and maintain accurate OSP data and documentation for NCR facilitiesWHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEEDClearance: Active Top-Secret clearance (SCI eligible)Education/Experience: Associates degree & 3+ years of Outside Plant infrastructure experience (will consider other combinations of education and experience that equals 5 yrs)Technical Skills: Knowledge of BICSI standards, NEC, IEEE, EIA, and TIA codes; Understanding of Structured Cabling Systems; Experience with fusion and mechanical fiber splicing; Proficiency with OTDR testing, Visio, and AutoCADRole Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.; stand for long periods. The likely hourly rate for this position is between $41.68 - $56.40. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
