Duties Help If selected for this position, you will support the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Section (SODVS), by performing a range of difficult and complex investigative analysis relating to legal matters of the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia (USAODC). Typical Work Assignments Will Include Plans and conduct investigative analysis of a range of complex and difficult matters relating to cases and legal matters of concern to the USAODC. Determines matters of fact that relate directly to statutory and regulatory law, and the legal matters assigned to one or more or Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs). Analyzes evidence that comes from investigators, analysts, and law enforcement officers stationed throughout several states, and collects information relating to this evidence or legal matters under consideration from appropriate primary and secondary information sources. Consolidates and synthesizes data relevant to USAODC operations collected from multiple sources. Identifies the need for further research, analysis or investigation and makes decisions concerning the consolidation and dissemination of information to various law enforcement agencies and other organizations. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To Qualify At The GS-11 Level, You Must Possess Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the (4) out of the (6) following duties: Planning and conducting analyses in support of criminal investigations or legal matters; Using law-enforcement databases and electronic resources to gather and analyze evidence and investigative information; Coordinating with attorneys and law-enforcement officials on investigative strategies, intelligence sharing, or trial preparation; Interviewing witnesses, law-enforcement officials, or technical experts to obtain investigative information; Analyzing documents and evidence and creating audiovisual materials for motions or trials; Preparing investigative reports and presenting analytical findings. OR A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university that provided the knowledge skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position. OR A combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education), that when combined equals 100 percent of the qualification requirement. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-9 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases). Education If you are claiming education as any part of your qualifications for this position, you must submit an official transcript, unofficial transcript, or a list including courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned. All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see Special Instructions for Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
