The Clinical Physical Therapy Team Leader plays a vital role in supporting the Director of Therapy Operations with the daily management of a therapy team or specific discipline. This role demands strong supervisory abilities and effective communication skills to foster interdepartmental relationships, alongside proficiency in evaluating, assessing, planning care, and delivering treatment within the licensed discipline. The Team Leader is responsible for delegating and overseeing the tasks of therapy assistants and technicians, aiding in staffing, scheduling, orientation, training, and communication to ensure sufficient coverage for patient treatments. Additionally, maintaining ongoing communication with various hospital departments is essential to meet the needs of patients, staff, and the organization. Typically, this position involves providing patient care in the licensed discipline for 80% to 90% of the working hours.

The Therapy Team Leader contributes to cultivating an environment and culture that empowers the organization to achieve its mission by meeting or surpassing its goals. This includes effectively communicating the organization's mission to all staff, holding team members accountable for their performance, inspiring them to enhance their skills, and overseeing departmental operations, which encompasses measurement, assessment, and continuous improvement. The Team Leader also plays a crucial role in developing staff clinical skills and overall performance through mentoring and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure or certification as mandated by state regulations.
  • CPR certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited therapy program is necessary.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in physical therapy or leadership, including at least two years of clinical experience.
  • Active participation in the Therapy Clinical Ladder (when eligible) or possession of specialty professional certifications is preferred.
