Laboratory Manager

Laboratory Manager – Mary Black Lab (Spartanburg, South Carolina) Job Summary The Laboratory Manager is responsible for all aspects of departmental operations, including clinical operations, administrative functions, regulatory compliance, budget and fiscal accountability, strategic planning, process improvement, employee engagement, personnel management and service excellence. Responsibilities Serve as a liaison collaborating with all disciplines that interact with the Laboratory Department. Provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families and visitors ranging in age from neonate to geriatrics. Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures and regulations, and abide by the Standards of Behavior. Perform all revenue, expense, budget, position and FTE responsibilities, reporting variances to the Director. Maintain strict confidentiality of work‑related information. Communicate professionally with physicians, management and staff; respond calmly and efficiently in crisis situations. Adopt leadership style to various situations; provide regular, timely feedback on performance. Work irregular and flexible hours as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related area. MT (ASCP or equivalent registry), HT or HLT (ASCP). Five years of clinical laboratory experience, including in-depth knowledge of laboratory operations. Certification by an acceptable laboratory registry as an MT or MLS (preferred). Experience working in a large hospital laboratory setting and previous supervisory experience. Strong technical knowledge of all sections of responsibility, high mental acuity and attention to detail. Manual dexterity, adequate vision and hearing; cooperative teamwork.
