GroundskeeperMaintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district. Assist in receiving, storing, issuing, and delivery of equipment, tools, and supplies.Qualifications:High School diploma or GEDValid Texas driver's licenseAbility to read and understand written instructionsAbility to communicate verballyAbility to operate tractor and landscaping equipmentAbility to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand toolsAbility to read supply requisitions and perform basic arithmeticAbility to operate light truckAbility to operate mechanical equipmentMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Grounds and LandscapingMow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fieldsPlant and care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds and vegetationWater grounds and apply fertilizerCollect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilitiesAssist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systemAssist with playground maintenanceReceiving, Inventory, and DistributionVerify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice packaging slip and purchase orders; record and discrepancies or damageOpen crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items receivedInspect shipment for damage and defectsMove inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcartSort and store items according to established proceduresRead and fill requisitions for stock itemsVerify accuracy of orders pulledDrive truck to various locations to deliver materialsObtain authorized signature for supplies requestedLoad and unload delivery truck by hand and or by use of hand truckSafetyOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety proceduresFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediatelyHelp keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating conditionsInspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as neededEquipment used: Tractor and mower, riding and power mower, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, striping machine, garden and hand tools, post hole auger, aerator, wood chipper, chain saw, quick saw, hand tools, forklift, ladder, dolly, pallet jack, hand truck, light truck, trailer and personal computer.Working Conditions: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching; heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on ladders. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), loud noises, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
