Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Stepdown Nurse provides specialized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients experiencing cardiac conditions, managing complex medications, and monitoring for arrhythmias and hemodynamic stability. The role demands experience with continuous IV medications and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and manage continuous IV medications including cardiac drips, diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin, ensuring precise dosing and patient safety.
• Monitor patients closely for cardiac arrhythmias, hemodynamic changes, and signs of deterioration, promptly responding to abnormal findings.
• Perform assessments, document clinical data, and communicate patient status effectively using SBAR and electronic health records.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment plans, including cardioversion and arrhythmia management.
• Respond to emergency situations, including cardiac events and acute decompensations, following established protocols.
• Support patient education regarding medication management, procedural processes, and post-discharge care for cardiac and vascular conditions.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license in Georgia or a Compact State.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown nursing experience, with proficiency in managing IV drips and arrhythmias.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia recognition, and emergency response.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team environment, including float responsibilities within scope of practice.
