Software Engineering Manager – Media Delivery Platform

Snap Inc. is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the client media platform team within the Media Delivery Platform (MDP) organization. The role focuses on ownership of Snap’s end‑to‑end media infrastructure—from recording to playback—across mobile and backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of mobile developers with deep media expertise in a fast‑paced, quick‑to‑market environment.
• Set strategy, build a roadmap, define measurable goals, and lead the team to deliver on objectives.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders.
• Evaluate technical trade‑offs of major decisions and act as a strong technical mentor.
• Hire, grow and retain high‑performing team members.
• Utilize AI tools and compliant engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services while maintaining rigorous standards for code correctness, security and production readiness.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Background building highly performative and reliable media systems, including optimizations from video player to UI/UX playback.
• Experience leading an engineering team and delivering large, complex technical initiatives.
• Proficiency or strong aptitude with AI tools to streamline development, with judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks.
• Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
• 9+ years post‑bachelor software development experience; or master’s + 7+ years; or PhD + 3+ years.
• 1+ year experience managing a team.
• Experience with distributed systems and web development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with driving large‑scale initiatives from ideation to completion.
• Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative environments.
• Experience with ops‑heavy systems/products.

Work Model

Snap’s “Default Together” policy expects team members to work in an office 4+ days per week.
