Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS)

This Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) position reports to an assigned administrator and works under the direction of a credentialed staff member to develop, implement, and model behavior and instructional support plans that meet individual student needs and reinforce learning. The role includes specialized learning techniques, communication strategies, and applied behavioral activities for students with emotional disabilities, behavior disorders, and mental health challenges. The incumbent also supports staff by modeling positive behavior support techniques and collects data related to academic and behavioral outcomes. Responsibilities Assist in developing, implementing, and modeling behavior and instructional support plans; apply specialized learning techniques and communication strategies; provide instruction and applied behavioral activities for students with emotional disabilities, behavior disorders or mental health challenges; model positive behavior support and intervention techniques for colleagues; collect and analyze data pertaining to academic and behavioral information; work collaboratively with administrators and credentialed staff to support student learning. Qualifications 48 college semester units in child development, education, psychology, sociology, human development, counseling, or a related field. One year of work experience with children who have emotional disabilities, behavior disorders and/or mental health challenges. Knowledge of behavior intervention techniques, strategies, and positive reinforcement. Resume (detailed résumé summarizing professional experience and preparation).
