Non-Negotiables

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is required
• You must possess at least 11 years of progressive experience in substation engineering and project management
• Demonstrated success delivering complex substation design projects and managing EPC programs is essential
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
• The ability to work from Bloomington, MN, or one of the other listed office locations is mandatory
• Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills are non-negotiable; you will represent the firm to major utility clients
• Proficiency with project controls-scope, schedule, budget, and risk-for multidisciplinary engineering teams is required

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and project delivery owner for complex substation design projects from concept to completion
• Manage all technical deliverables and ensure they meet client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Oversee project resources-including engineers, designers, and external partners-to maintain quality and schedule adherence
• Collaborate closely with the assigned Project Manager to control scope, schedule, and budget while proactively identifying and mitigating risks
• Engage with clients regularly to provide progress updates, address concerns, and strengthen long-term relationships
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
• Drive the development and adoption of engineering standards and best practices across projects

Preferred Qualifications

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly valued and will set you apart from other candidates
• A master's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field is a strong plus
• Previous experience working directly with electric utility clients is preferred
• A track record of managing multiple concurrent projects and adapting to changing priorities
• Familiarity with industry software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or scheduling tools
• Bilingual communication skills are an asset for coordinating with diverse teams and clients
• A history of contributing to process improvement or technical innovation in substation design
