Location: Cambridge, ON, CA Operating Sector: Nuclear Position Title: Technical SME, New Nuclear Date: Jun 13, 2026 Opportunity The New Nuclear Development group provides engineering, procurement, construction and project management support at the early stages of new nuclear projects. Projects may involve small modular reactors (SMR) or large‑scale nuclear facilities, and support can include estimating, technology assessments, constructability reviews, schedule development, contract development, and other activities typically required by clients in early project development. Projects may be undertaken solely by Aecon or in joint‑venture partnerships, and locations can include Canada, the United States, and international sites. Responsibilities Lead a complex multidisciplinary team comprising project controls, operations, finance, estimating, and other disciplines. Proactively improve execution through innovation, lessons learned, and productivity initiatives. Manage interactions with challenging clients to maintain positive relationships, resolve conflicts, and achieve desired outcomes, fostering long‑term partnerships. Collaborate with partners from different organizations to achieve common goals, leveraging diverse expertise and resources while navigating complex relationships and shared responsibilities. Develop an appropriate planning and execution organization capable of executing major new‑build nuclear construction projects. Provide high‑level executive management exposure, including building, managing, and sustaining a high‑performing business to deliver profitable growth. Apply extensive knowledge of the Nuclear Industry, including requirements of owners and contractors, safety culture, and INPO principles. Qualifications BSc in Engineering or equivalent technical experience. 20+ years of experience in planning and managing major capital projects, ideally large‑scale nuclear projects. Understanding of Nuclear Safety Culture and INPO principles, experience in highly regulated construction environments, ideally in commercial nuclear power. Project management, contract management, and risk management skills. Appreciation for the importance of Quality Assurance Programs in the nuclear industry. Knowledge of nuclear designs, systems, reactor fundamentals, materials, and maintenance is desired. Experience with construction strategy, means and methods, project management fundamentals, and business acumen. Knowledge of key players and existing relationships within the nuclear sector. Compensation Pay Range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year Individual pay determined based on factors such as work location, education, experience, unique skills, job conditions, certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
