ACCOUNTING MANAGER Chicago, IL, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 1063 Salary Range: $115,000.00 To $135,000.00 Annually Position Summary Finkl Steel is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, and audit coordination. This hands-on role is responsible for preparing accurate financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the business through timely and reliable financial reporting. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a lean manufacturing environment where priorities can change, processes may be manual, and resourcefulness is essential to meeting deadlines and driving results. Key Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, analyze financial results, and explain significant variances. Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Lead the annual external audit process, including preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and audit deliverables. Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls. Support inventory, fixed asset, accrual, and other accounting activities. Assist with ad hoc projects and accounting/finance-related tasks. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, including 3+ years in public accounting (audit preferred). Strong accounting and financial reporting experience. Experience leading the month-end close and annual audit process. CPA preferred. SAP or ERP experience preferred. Knowledge & Skills Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge. Experience preparing financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Ability to prioritize work, manage competing deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
