Activity Leader

Extended Day - Activity Leader (Glendale Elementary School District) Purpose Statement The role involves organizing and directing age-appropriate activities for school-age students, preparing and serving snacks, assisting with homework, and helping maintain a clean and safe learning environment. Essential Functions Assist with serving daily snacks to meet students' nutritional needs. Supervise students on outdoor activities such as sandbox, swings, climbing apparatus, and field trips to ensure safety. Work with individual or small groups on games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground activities, and handwashing to reinforce learning concepts and attend to student needs. Distribute instructional and play materials to support classroom activities. Maintain program equipment and work areas to ensure availability and safety. Monitor student behavior and compliance with regulations to preserve a positive learning environment. Organize indoor and outdoor, quiet and active play activities appropriate to age groups. Prepare essential documents such as lesson plans, supply lists, and behavioral or accident reports. Promote good habits to improve student outcomes and encourage development. Receive and deliver children to/from parents or designees to ensure safety and meet health and district requirements. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to support efficient unit operation. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required skills include safety practices, student motivation, and accurate record-keeping. Knowledge of basic math, written procedures, clear communication, and child development stages is essential. Abilities involve scheduling, data collection and analysis, equipment operation, adaptive problem solving, teamwork, and confidentiality. Responsibilities Work under direct supervision, follow standardized routines, provide information and advice, and operate within a defined budget. Use resources from other units as needed to perform job functions. Work Environment The role requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity, with 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The work area is generally hazard-free. Experience Job-related experience is required. Education High school diploma or equivalent.
