Imagine clocking in at Westinghouse in Newington, NH and beginning your shift by reviewing a new set of engineering prints. You confirm requirements in compliance with PP-09-01, plan your tooling strategy, and set up a CNC to cut high‑tolerance components that keep nuclear plants operating safely and reliably. Throughout your shift, you collaborate with engineers, CNC programmers, and fellow machinists—making measured G-code tweaks when qualified, verifying every critical dimension, and closing out your work area to 5S and criticality standards.

Role Overview

• Location: Newington, NH (100% Onsite)
• Shifts: 2nd (3:30 PM – Midnight) and 3rd (Midnight – 7AM)
• Pay: $35.00–$40.00 per hour (based on qualifications)
• Reporting to: Machine Shop Supervisor

A Day in the Life

You’ll rotate across advanced metal-removing and metal-forming equipment, set up machines and castings to tight tolerances, and produce parts that meet demanding nuclear quality, safety, and regulatory criteria. Between runs, you’ll verify dimensions with precision instruments, troubleshoot processes, and refine setups to improve repeatability and throughput. You’ll help keep the shop running efficiently by following 5S and housekeeping standards, and you’ll share insights with the team to continually raise the bar on safety and quality.

What You’ll Do

• Machine precision components that meet nuclear quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Operate a range of metal‑removing and metal‑forming machines in the manufacturing department.
• Set up machine tools, components, and castings per drawings and print specifications, including close‑tolerance work.
• Read and interpret drawings, sketches, blueprints, and instructions in compliance with PP-09-01.
• Select and use measuring instruments, hand tools, fixtures, jigs, and tooling; fabricate tooling as needed.
• Perform in‑process inspections and confirm all dimensional/quality requirements are met.
• Troubleshoot machining operations and make limited G‑code program modifications when qualified.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area aligned with 5S, housekeeping, safety, and criticality procedures.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• 3–5 years of machinist experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrated proficiency in CNC machining.
• Knowledge of CNC G‑code programming and machine operations.
• 3+ years with tooling, fixtures, machine setup, and process optimization for quality components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with precision measurement tools and inspection methods.
• Working knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing.
