Shop Welder (TIG) – Metalcrafters NC

Goldsboro, NC
Full-Time
$20+/hour (based on experience) – Opportunity for growth

Metalcrafters NC is looking for a dependable and hardworking Shop TIG Welder to join our growing production team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the fabrication, preparation, assembly, finishing, and movement of miscellaneous metal products including custom stair systems, railings, platforms, gates, and specialty fabrication projects.

• Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals according to project specifications
• Fabricate and assemble miscellaneous metal products using shop drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
• Fit, tack, weld, and finish components while maintaining proper alignment, dimensions, and weld quality
• Prepare materials for welding by measuring, cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting components as required
• Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet company quality standards and project requirements
• Safely operate welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, material handling equipment, and shop machinery
• Read and accurately interpret shop drawings, measurements, weld symbols, and fabrication requirements
• Support daily production schedules and help ensure projects are completed accurately and on time
• Load, unload, move, and stage materials throughout the shop as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding and fabrication area
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, welding practices, and quality standards
• Utilize the Metalcrafters app for production tracking, accountability, and workflow updates
• Complete required production logs, checklists, and documentation accurately
• Work collaboratively with other welders, fabricators, machine operators, and shop team members
• Assist other shop departments as production needs require
• Identify fabrication, quality, or safety concerns and communicate them promptly to shop leadership
• Properly maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure they remain in good working condition
• Support daily, weekly, and monthly production goals while maintaining Metalcrafters' standards for quality and craftsmanship

• TIG welding experience required , with the ability to produce clean, consistent, high-quality welds
• Experience TIG welding stainless steel and aluminum strongly preferred
• MIG and Stick welding experience preferred
• Previous metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial welding experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication details
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic shop math
• Strong understanding of material preparation, fit-up, welding, and finishing processes
• Ability to safely and efficiently operate welding and fabrication equipment
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on weld appearance, accuracy, and overall product quality
• Ability to problem-solve and make adjustments during the fabrication process
• Self-driven, dependable, and motivated with a strong work ethic
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Ability to manage multiple fabrication tasks in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. as needed
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment certifications, including forklift, scissor lift, telehandler, combi lift, and other applicable certifications
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential

Welding Experience: TIG welding experience is required. MIG and Stick welding experience are highly valued.
