The successful candidate will perform all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.Essential FunctionsTeach assigned courses in accordance with course descriptions as outlined in a course syllabus and schedule requirements. Provide regular and substantive feedback to all students, especially in distance education courses.Deliver instruction in different modalities such as face to face, hybrid, and distance delivery in both synchronous and asynchronous distance formats.Distribute a course syllabus by the first class period of each term clearly stating all required elements including, but not limited to, learning outcomes, grading processes, attendance requirements, nature of assignments or requirements, communication policy, and required texts. For off-campus courses, the course syllabus should be posted to the Learning Management Software by the first day of the term.Use the adopted learning management systems (CANVAS) in teaching and course management. Use the institutional student information system (SIS) to document record of attendance and final grades.Collect data to assess learning based on course outcomes; use assessment data to make improvements in course curriculum and adopt teaching practices that foster learning for students.Provide regularly scheduled and posted times for availability for students for course related consultation.Observe all policies of the Board of Education and/or administration regulations and procedures as they apply to the instructor as a member of the college faculty and as a BMCC employee.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesIndividuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:Excellent oral and written communication skills.Working knowledge of computers, with skills in MS Word and Excel, and with ZOOM.Experience with a Learning Management System (Canvas preferred).Required Education and ExperienceProfessional-Technical:Bachelor’s degree in field and /or certification by recognized national certifying organization and/or appropriate experience.Lower Division Collegiate:A Master's Degree in discipline or Master’s degree plus 20 graduate hours in the subject area.Preferred Education and ExperienceAbility and qualifications to teach in more than one subject area.Previous teaching or training experience.Other Aspects of this PositionAssignment(s) may include day and/or evening courses, weekdays and/or weekends, face-to-face and/or distance-delivered instruction.Adjunct Instructors must be a resident of either Oregon or Washington State.Completed applications will remain on file for one year.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________APPLICATION PACKETS MUST INCLUDE:Resume;Transcripts of course work - graduate and undergraduate (if applicable) unofficial are acceptable for the application process;Cover letter addressing how you meet the minimum qualifications as outlined in the position description; andList of courses you are qualified to instruct.Teaching Demonstration may be required as part to the interview/hiring process.Please contact Human Resources View phone number on click.appcast.io) if you have a special need/accommodation to aid your participation in our hiring process.Veteran's preference points will be given provided DD214/DD215 is provided.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
