RN Assistant Nurse Manager, T2 Critical Care/Burn, West Penn Hospital

divh2Critical Care/Burn Unit Manager/h2pWest Penns Critical Care/Burn Unit is a 14-bed fast paced unit caring for both Burn and wound patients. Burn injuries (pediatric to adult) would include frostbite, road rash, autoimmune, chronic skin conditions, and other burn classifications./ppAs the only burn center in Western Pennsylvania verified by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons for both adult and pediatric care, we deliver high-quality, comprehensive patient care from injury through rehabilitation. Contributes to the strategic planning process and attainment of goals of the department/unit, the organization and network./ph3Essential Responsibilities/h3h3Leadership/h3ulliRole model mission, vision, and values within their defined areas of responsibility./liliDemonstrates and role models professional behavior with all staff interactions./liliServes as change agent and role model for change to assist staff in accepting and embracing the necessary change./liliConducts monthly unit conferences with minutes which include discussions of both unit and organizational activities and goals when delegated/liliCompletes annual performance appraisals on associates which includes peer feedback process, plan for professional development and employee self-appraisal on delegated associates/liliAttends meetings at the direction of the nurse manager/liliPromotes unit based shared governance to include ongoing support through consultation and assistance in eliminating barriers in partnership with the nurse manager/liliPromotes professional development plan and conducts quarterly check-ins with staff/liliPromotes and encourages nursing specialty certification in partnership with the nurse manager/liliPromotes employee engagement through leadership rounding./li/ulh3Quality and Patient Safety/h3ulliIdentifies, plans, and implements activities in partnership with the nurse manager in specified clinical departments which ensures patient care is delivered in accordance with professional standards for nursing practice and is evidenced based, meets patient safety goals and standards and regulatory guidelines./liliMonitors departmental performance in appropriate evidence-based practices quality and patient safety goals, meeting assigned goals./liliDevelops action plan for any goal not met which includes timeline./liliParticipates in regulatory readiness/liliAssists nurse manager in developing a yearly unit based quality plan with unit based clinical practice and performance improvement council based on identified unit needs./liliParticipates in operational excellence projects using performance improvement methodologies related to through put and other quality improvement initiatives./li/ulh3Customer Satisfaction/h3ulliWorks collaboratively with patients, families, peers, and other departments in the organization/network to meet established organizational goals for patient experience../liliInvestigates and provides feedback for identified patient or departmental concerns./liliRounds daily to assess and address patient and family needs./liliCollaborates with nurse manager to Develop departmental plan to address any improvement needs./liliAssists nurse manager in meeting or show consistent progress toward meeting established patient experience goal(s) and metrics./li/ulh3Finance/h3ulliEnsures effective implementation of financial plan in partnership with nurse manager/liliDemonstrates fiscal stewardship through effective and efficient use of staff, facilities, equipment, and other resources while maintaining patient care standards./liliMaintains both FTE and Goods/Services within established budget, completes variance reports according to established guidelines./liliUtilizes established tools to monitor monthly budget performance, conducting drill down to explain variances as needed./liliCompletes daily productivity tracker/liliCollaborates with nurse manager to address overtime use with individuals as needed with documentation of discussion./li/ulh3Professional Growth and Development/h3ulliFosters the development of staff through coaching, mentoring, and creating an environment which encourages learning and use of research./liliAssures appropriate orientation and onboarding, education, credentialing, and professional development for personnel in collaboration with education development specialists/liliEncourages and facilitates staff membership on councils and committees/liliEncourage and facilitate attendance at nursing grand rounds and other educational programs according to educational needs assessment of unit/department or network./liliFoster peer review participation with staff an d participate in peer review with other assistant nurse managers../liliConducts quarterly check-ins with assigned staff to review developmental goals/liliIdentifies one area for self-improvement annually and develops a plan to improve/li/ulh3Qualifications/h3h3Minimum/h3ulliBachelors Degree in Nursing required within 3 years of hire or transfer/lili1 year of demonstrated clinical leadership experience/liliAct 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate/liliAct 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate/liliAct 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate/liliCurrent State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)./liliCPR certification/li/ulh3Preferred/h3ulliMasters
