Pharmacy TechnicianThis position supports OHSU patients with access to medications. Functions as a liaison and a point of contact for various pharmacy operations and interdisciplinary team members. Facilitate and prioritizes time sensitive duties which may include but are not limited to pharmacy program support and operational procedures. Person working this shift is responsible for ensuring accountability and accuracy of standard operations procedures in these areas.Function/Duties of PositionProcess medication assistance requests from patients, providers, pharmacists and clinic staff.Provide telephonic support for various programs including but not limited to Medication Assistance, Specialty Pharmacy Program and prior authorizationsProvide telephonic outreach to patients for Specialty Pharmacy Program including but not limited to program introduction, enrollment, and refill remindersCoordinate medication delivery of manufacturer-provided assistance product including but not limited to receiving freight, verifying FedEx delivery information and outreach to manufacturers to verify receipt.Provide support to specialty pharmacy clinics, including submitting documentation to support prior authorization and medication assistanceDemonstrate understanding of integrated health record documentation, reporting, as well as utilization of multiple system platforms.Perform other technician duties or support other clinical areas based on operational needs.Perform daily activities specifically related to triage procedures or program specific proceduresRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma, active State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician License AND1 year of pharmacy work experience, or equivalent additional education; ANDCertification from the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Health career Association. Certification must be maintained. Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies): Must possess computer keyboarding skills.Ability to read and understand medical-related terms.Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical mathematics calculations.Skill at manipulating small objects, e.g., needles, syringes, ampules.Ability to use mechanical system for transfer of fluids.Knowledge of and skill at application of aseptic technique.Ability to establish priorities in workflow.Good interpersonal communication skills.Ability to work under supervision of diverse Pharmacists.Preferred QualificationsFormal pharmacy technician training programMedical office setting experience or health system experienceInpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy experience.Medical and scientific nomenclature.Microsoft application knowledge (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook)Additional DetailsPossible exposure to hazardous chemicals and noise. Understand the difference of non-hazardous and hazardous medications; safely handle hazardous medications per regulatory guidelines. Flexibility in scheduling of shift times.
