Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Orthopedics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Illinois license or confirmation of application process Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical care experience Description: The unit has 43 private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 on 12-hour days and 1:5-6 on 12-hour nights. Common diagnoses include a wide variety of medical-surgical cases, postoperative orthopedic cases, and trauma cases with fractures. We prefer candidates with 1-2 years of clinical experience. There is a primary charge RN each shift, and a house supervisor available 24/7. Patient care technicians are available with a ratio of 1:7-8. RNs are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as CPAP and heated high flow as needed. Telemetry packets are house-wide, and the monitors are Phillips. Travel RNs may be asked to float to other similar medical-surgical floors as needed. RNs may wear any color of scrubs, maintaining a professional appearance. Tattoos and piercings must be covered while on duty. Specific orientation for the unit/department will take place over two days.
