Mechanical Engineer II - Engineering Change Leader

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Mechanical Engineer II to lead engineering changes for complex scientific instruments throughout their product lifecycle. The role requires coordinating with cross-functional teams to evaluate, execute, and implement product modifications while maintaining technical documentation accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders for assigned products following established processes
• Evaluate proposed changes for technical feasibility, scope, risk, impact, and cross-functional dependencies
• Review mechanical drawings, CAD models, and technical product documentation to validate approved changes
• Coordinate cross-functional technical reviews and impact analysis across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and service
• Develop and oversee implementation plans while monitoring work-in-process, priorities, and cycle time

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and direct experience
• 5+ years mechanical engineering, product engineering, or sustaining engineering in high-technology manufacturing
• Strong proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and engineering drawing interpretation
• Demonstrated experience with 3D CAD models, mechanical drawings, assemblies, and Bills of Material
• Background with Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Orders, or configuration/change control
• Ability to interpret engineering redlines and verify documentation implements intended changes
• Strong mechanical design, manufacturing processes, tolerances, and design-for-manufacturability knowledge
