BAKERY/CLERK

Responsibilities A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. Demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about. Inform customers of bakery specials. Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion size. Recommend bakery items to customers to meet their needs. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines. Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes. Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients. Check product quality for freshness and review sell‑by dates. Properly use kitchen equipment, e.g., stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager. Understand store layout and locate products requested by customers. Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. Maintain knowledge of products sold and provide suggestions. Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies. Ensure temperature logs are maintained and temperatures in cases/coolers are proper. Promote trust and respect among associates. Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions. Display a positive attitude. Perform preventive maintenance of equipment and report issues. Notify management of employee or customer accidents. Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualifications Outstanding customer service skills. Desire to learn food production and basic cooking techniques. Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team. Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with sense of urgency. Good basic math skills.
