COMPENSATION: Internal: Current step on the WWAP Salary Schedule External: $32.32/hour Based on W-WAP Collective Agreement

POSTING DATES: June 15, 2026 – Until filled Wayne-Westland Community Schools is located in the metropolitan Detroit area, between Ann Arbor and Detroit. Our staff provides the very best educational opportunities for approx. 10,000 students from Westland, Wayne, Canton, Livonia, Garden City, Dearborn Heights, Inkster, and Romulus. The Wayne-Westland Community School district is comprised of ten elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8), and two high schools (9-12). We also have an early childhood center, an ultra-modern facility for career/technical training, an alternative high school, and a thriving online program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned

• Works with small groups of students or individual students under the direct supervision of the teacher
• Performs tasks that support student achievement
• Manages and instructs students on appropriate behavior using positive behavior support strategies consistent
• Assists teachers in preparing materials, record keeping, and data collection relative to student progress
• Helps maintain instructional area, supplies, equipment and facilities in a clean and safe condition
• Participates in special instructional activities to meet program and student goals
• Maintain confidentiality
• Follows established policies/procedures safety, student rights, and emergency/disaster plans
• Regular and predictable attendance

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a recognized nurses training program
• Possess current Registered Nurse license (RN)
• Two years recent related work experience in a hospital and/or nursing home preferred
• Documented geriatric care experience preferred
• Must possess or be eligible for the Train-the-Trainer Certification for CNA clinical skills supervision
• Possess other specific qualifications appropriate to the program area
• Previous teaching experience at the High School or Adult Education level preferred

• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Strong communication skills
• Strong collaboration skills
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
• Comfortable working with high school students

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The work year is determined by the number of days students are in attendance during the regular school calendar and/or specific program needs. The work days for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:25 a.m. to 1:50 P.m. The hourly rate is based on the WWAP Collective Bargaining Agreement.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Administrator with input from the employee's supervisor.
