Job Summary


We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) - Chemotherapy to provide high-quality nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy and other oncology-related treatments. This position is responsible for patient assessment, chemotherapy administration, treatment monitoring, patient and family education, and accurate clinical documentation.


The RN will work closely with physicians and other members of the clinical team to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will have oncology experience and knowledge of chemotherapy/biotherapy administration and safety protocols.


Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and manage patient needs throughout the course of treatment.
• Administer chemotherapy and other prescribed medications, including IV therapies and injections, in accordance with established protocols.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment and promptly identify potential adverse reactions or changes in condition.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Educate and support patients and their families regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, and ongoing care.
• Provide on-call support for patients receiving chemotherapy at home through infusion pumps, as required.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, investigators, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Assist with patient flow and daily operations within the chemotherapy department.
• Accurately document assessments, medications, treatments, and other clinical information in the patient's medical record.
• Administer intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections as needed.
• Assist with clinical procedures and ensure proper adherence to nursing policies and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of current clinical policies, procedures, safety standards, and oncology nursing practices.
• Maintain required CPR/BLS, ACLS, and chemotherapy/biotherapy credentials.
• Follow appropriate safety precautions when working with chemotherapy agents, blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous materials, and other potentially hazardous substances.
• Demonstrate professional accountability and responsibility for nursing practice.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Active and unrestricted Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current BLS certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
• Current ACLS certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification through the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• 2+ years of oncology nursing experience preferred.
• Experience administering chemotherapy, IV medications, and injections strongly preferred.
• Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to treatment reactions and clinical emergencies.
• Strong patient assessment, documentation, communication, and education skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, families, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work safely around chemotherapy agents, blood-borne pathogens, and biohazardous materials.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, manipulate clinical equipment, push/pull wheelchairs, and routinely lift approximately 20-25 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
• No travel is required for this position.
