Technical Qualifications Demonstrated working knowledge of PowerBuilder (version 10 or higher preferred), Oracle (version 8 or higher preferred), Microsoft SQL Server (version 2005 or higher). Skilled in stored procedures, views, temporary tables, user-defined functions and relational data models. Proficient in T-SQL; query tuning is a plus. Familiarity with database tools such as TOAD or other Oracle database tools. Experience with reporting writing tools, e.g., SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Experience with .NET, C#, Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio Team Foundation Server (TFS) / Visual Source Safe (VSS), Visio, MS Office 2003 and above. Understanding of, and willingness to work within, a defined SDLC. Understanding of QA principles; ability to unit-test code before delivery to integrated testing and formal QA. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully. Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and ability to monitor own work to ensure quality and apply feedback. Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Identify, assess, and communicate business risk on production support and project initiatives to all levels of the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Works closely with other developers, project managers, business analysts, and QA analysts to define, code, test, implement and support high-quality reports. Performs unit and system testing on each assignment. Provides accurate time estimates for all development assignments. Collaborates with IT and business resources to identify the best and most cost-effective solutions for the business. Willing and able to work on both projects and production support efforts. Willingly shares technical knowledge with others. Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge within areas of responsibility. Complies with and supports all corporate, department and unit policies and procedures. Works independently, but keeps IT management, peers, project teams and business customers informed of projects, activities, risks and issues within assigned areas of responsibility. Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business/Economics, or equivalent related work experience. Four to six years of experience in the insurance industry or a related financial services industry.
